Our mission and story
Alienyak Games was born from two creators who loved building worlds, crafting unique creatures, and transforming wild ideas into strategic tabletop adventures. What began as a dream to build a video game slowly evolved into a passion for designing clever, chess-inspired board games that spark imagination and bring friends together.
From our first strategy game concept, Pequod, to playful titles like Goats & Goblins, Horses & Hexagons and Zombie Run, every Alienyak game blends creativity, strategy, and just the right amount of chaos.
Our mission is simple:
Create memorable games that make people think, laugh, and say, 'We have to play that again.'
At Alienyak Games, imagination drives everything we do — and every game is an adventure waiting to happen.
Alienyak started as a simple dream: “Let's make a video game!” There were sci‑fi ideas, cool T‑shirts,
and even early work on a first‑person video game — but without a full team, that vision never launched.
Years later, inspiration struck again, this time during long bike rides and memories of creating custom monsters for D&D. The joy wasn't just in playing but in crafting new worlds and watching friends face something unexpected.
So, the idea shifted: forget cards, forget dice — let’s build strategy games inspired by chess, but with our own quirky twist.
Weekly meetups began, and ideas flew fast — so fast that Daryl had to say, "Slow down! Let's make one game first." That's how Pequod was born.
Then came a creative wave:
- Goats & Goblins (goats headbutting things is always fun)
- Horses & Hexagons (Daryl’s addition to the madness)
- Zombie Run, which evolved into something bigger
- And finally Urban Expedite, inspired by an unexpected challenge at work
Along the way, countless game cafe visits and playtests helped shape what Alienyak Games stands for:
Games that make people laugh, think, and say "Clever!" — the kind you pull off the shelf when friends come over… preferably with tacos.
To create entertaining games that are fun, challenging and exciting. We want to make every household a place of joy and connection through gaming. Have a night to remember with friends and family.
